COGICSINGLES.COM vs. COGIC vs. Common sense

Well, lets first get all of the facts presented folks.

This is the press release on the Church Of God In Christ website on March 19, 2014; in response to the questions of its affiliation with the dating website

And here’s the response of the website’s operators response to the buzz generated by the National Church’s response and the discussion of the website’s necessity and validity on The Yolanda Adams Morning Show.

The appeal for discussion on Yolanda Adams Morning Show went something like this:

Av’s Say What Topic For Wednesday: Church of God In Christ Launches New Singles Dating Site! So do you think a Christian dating website is a good place to find a mate or date and would you use it? Tell us why at 1-888-965-0440 at 650 am eastern on The Yolanda Adams Show.

This is the COGICSINGLES.COM mission statement:

Our Vision is to promote a Christian dating experience that promotes God’s Holy Covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Our faith is confirmed in the truth of Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains the favor of the Lord”

OKAY! Now that we’ve got the facts presented. I need to make a few statements. (Pardon me while I climb atop my spanking new soapbox…a little help here?)

1. The euphemisms and inferences that I’ve made encouraging the COGIC to distance themselves from this site were all in jest and purely facetious in nature. I, unfortunately, gave them too much credit thinking they would not respond to the public debate. For some reason, I was actually convinced that they would be far too busy stopping the billion dollar child sex trafficking industry in this country or re – educating the 2 million black ex-cons in the prison system before being released and are unemployable and likely to re offend. ….or using the millions of dollars raised and donated by the city of St. Louis to fund mentorship programs for the millions of young boys being raised without father’s in your pews….but we’re so glad you took the time to clear your name, COGIC.

2.Here’s the mission statement of

How exactly is that in anyway different than the supposed “MISSION STATEMENT” of

There is no difference! This stinks of the same separatism that predominantly black organizations thrive on but then turn right around and claim they are being singled out for opression!
The site’s operator claims that the site’s goal is to facilitate the meeting of christians. That’s what does….why then the need to duplicate an already successful site? (I’m in no way advocating the purity of

The truth be told….it’s the same old story that, quite frankly, I’m so sick of seeing.
It is the cancer that is at the root of a self imposed genocide of a people.

Instead of making a quality product that all people, no matter their gender, beliefs, persuasion, socioeconomic background; can benefit from…..we prefer to make an inferior product and guilt the masses into participating claiming it should be supported because it was founded by an oppressed people or a denomination that makes us somehow superior to all others.

Like or not….that’s the truth.
